Welcome, my name is Collins. I am an aspiring graphics designer and full-stack developer whose practice is heavily influenced by technology and internet culture. My work gravitates towards the use of technology and so my processes tend to be quite technical. Virtual reality, artificial intelligence, 3D art, game development, and everything related all capture my interest.
give me a spin
I graduated from UAL with a bachelor’s degree in graphics
design in 2020, where I developed my technical and creative skills in a range
of media and platforms. My work is heavily influenced by technology and
internet culture, and I enjoy exploring the intersections of graphics design,
game development, and digital art.
After graduating I became the courses graduate studio assistant where I
maintained the studio and supported the staff and students with technical work within the Adobe Creative Suite
(Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro and After Effects) and oversaw a range of printing equipment
(large format, RISO and screen-printing). Other responsibilities included setting up equipment, troubleshooting
software, and organizing events.
From my perspective, society is becoming more reliant on
technology and as we move towards this digital age, conversations must be had
about the unregulated spaces of the internet. One space that has influenced me
are in-game purchases within video games. Loot boxes are not heavily regulated,
and this can lead to developers and or publishers pushing aggressively pushing
these. Problems start to arise when kids get a hand of these.
This is just one area of the internet where lack of
regulations causes problems. We see this in the emerging crypto space and shows
why we need to talk about the grey areas that come with technological
innovation.
TLDR – a big nerd whose practice is very technical. Someone who believes we need to talk about regulations when
it comes to emerging technologies.
